History of S.S. Lazio. The overall club was founded on November 9, 1900 in Piazza della Liberta` near Piazza del Popolo and near the Tiber in Rome.. They started playing soccer a year later. The club is a multi-sport outfit, and an Ente Morale (non-profit - charitable organzation).
Their colors - light blue and white, are an homage to Greece, land of the modern Olympics. The name for the Lazio region in which Rome is the capital.

In 1974, under Maestrelli, Lazio won their first scudetto. They won again in 2000 with Sven Goran Eriksson as their coach.
Notable team presidents include John Chinaglia and Dino Zoff.
